Dublin Irish Festival Celebrating 20 Years

The Dublin Irish Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! As always, they have a great lineup of entertainment and many cultural events and exhibits.





Irish Bagpipes

Date: July 31, August 1, August 2, 2009
Friday: 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM; Saturday: 11:00 AM - 12:00 AM;
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM
Location: Coffman Park, Dublin, Ohio

One of the largest Irish events around, over 75,000 people are expected to attend the Dublin Irish Festival. Being Irish myself, it's one event that brings a lot of the homeland culture and education to those in attendance.

The Health 5K Run kicks off on Thursday, August 2. It's open to all ages and awards will be given to the top 3 finishers.

The Academy
Classes are being offered to those that want to learn to dance or do a jig, or play the Irish fiddle or Irish whistle before the Dublin Irish Festival begins. Classes will be 08/01/07 and 08/02/07 at the Dublin Community Recreation Center.

Cultural Area
A wide variety of entertaining and educational exhibits includes workshop tents, an Irish wake tent, civil war re-enactors, the Irish theater, music workshops and exhibits.


Irish Dancers

The Spoken Word is the art of storytelling for all ages. You'll hear stories of the mystical tales and hear the history told via song in performances.

Brian Boru's Ireland
This will give everyone a genuine understanding of Ireland as it was a millennium ago. This recreation of a settlement in Ireland in the 10th century is unique and truly shows the homeland culture.

The Columbus Feis
Friday will kickoff the traditional, competitive Irish dancing. This will be the 27th year for the Columbus Feis. Dance Troupes will also be performing throughout the weekend.

The Entertainment lineup is huge. Performances across 6 stages with entertainers such as Aisling, Betley's Braes, Boys of the Lough, Celtic Tenors, Columbus Symphony, Craig and Kara, Dubin Singers, Gaelic Storm, Heartstone, Hooligans, Homeland, Prodigals, Tommy Makem and many more.

Celtic Sports
The new sports field will feature continuous sports. Included on Friday will be the Cornhole Tournament, Saturday will be the Hurling exhibit and Gaelic games, and Sunday will be the Pipe and Drum Showcase and the Safety Forces Tug of War competition.

Sand Sculpture
Sand carvers will be actively creating the twenty year history of the D.I.F. which is to be completed by Sunday afternoon.

The Celtic Canines features dogs native to Ireland. Included will be the rare Glen of Imaal terrier.

Teens...the Zone
Great Celtic bands, "Irish Fiddle Fetish" and "Homeland" with guests "Mickey Finns" will be playing Friday and Saturday evenings. (For guests 13 to 17).

Bodhran Player

The Dublin Irish Festival marketplace and Emerald Isle are loaded with beautiful gifts from Ireland and many fine works by artisans from all over including extraordinary, hand-crafted Celtic items. You'll find leather crafts, oil paintings, jewelry, and many other items.

And the traditional Irish food is awesome... there's plenty for everyone and what a treat! Food vendors will be plentiful throughout the festival.
